Our Founder’s Story
The door I once needed.
I am Dr. Ehoneah Obed, and Bozoma Innovation Hub began with a frustration I could not let go of.
I grew up here, in Aiyinasi, a town at the center of the Nzema land. At Ghana Secondary Technical School I discovered something that changed how I saw the world. I was introduced to robotics, and I began to code. For the first time, the future did not feel like something to wait for. It felt like something I could build with my own hands.
Then I came home. And there was nowhere to continue. No lab, no mentor, no door to knock on. I sat at home for more than a year before university, holding an interest that had nowhere to go. Like most bright students around me, I was told the path was medicine, pharmacy, or engineering, so I went and studied pharmacy for six years. It took me that long to admit the truth to myself. I loved technology more than I loved practising pharmacy. I went on to become a software engineer, and I built the life I had once only imagined.
I made it in the end. But I have never stopped thinking about how much sooner it could have happened, if only someone had shown me what was possible and given me a place to grow.
That thought is the reason this hub exists. I believe, deep in my chest, that there are young people in Nzema right now who are exactly where I once was. Driven, ambitious, full of potential, but with no platform, no support, and no one to point the way. The talent has always been here. What has been missing is the door.
I am grateful that there are several other industrious Nzemas who have also decided to join forces with me to make this happen for the good of our land. These are the Bozoma Innovation Hub fellows who are working with me to establish and run this hub to ensure that we can impact as many young people in Nzema as possible.

Why “Bozoma”
Named for a woman who gave without counting the cost.
We named the hub after my grandmother, Bozoma Afiba. I have not met many people who care the way she cares. Even from her sickbed, she thinks first of others. Her life has been a quiet, consistent lesson that the most powerful form of leadership is care.
That spirit of care is the foundation of everything we do here. Before any skill, before any programme, we care about the person who walks through our door.
